Garden Perfection
Walt Disney World is seriously just showing off. They consistently have the most beautiful gardens, rethought and refreshed constantly by a team of horticulturists, landscape designers, and (I can only imagine) a fleet of gardeners. I always feel a little inferior when I'm there. Sometimes (okay, often) I fantasize about having a landscape crew at my command. We'd clear that half-acre of woods behind the house so I could have some more grass to mow on my sweet ZTR. We'd finally build that espalier. Maybe we'd dig up those lilacs I inherited with this property. I'd rule this little patch of earth if I only had a crew.
Alas, I am a crew of one. Shane recues me when my dreams are loftier than my abilities. Here's what I know: my garden is lovely. Not Disney lovely, but it's charming and neat. Is there such a thing as garden perfection? Disney gets pretty close. I've seen some amazing formal gardens, some equally stunning cottage gardens, and even some orderly, awesome, modern ones. Well-tended, gardens are just down right pretty, no matter how grand or humble. I have to remind myself that it's okay to be inspired by the world's finest gardens, and be content with my little slice of heaven.
